Behind the Product: GOOD MEDICINE

I founded Ki’su’k Awumu (Good Medicine) in 2015. The word “good” is the root of this name in my native language, Kootenai, which is on the verge of extinction. I wanted to create something that would be useful and help preserve my language.
I originally made soaps, tinctures, and lotions using herbal remedies for skin conditions, addictions, and other ailments under the brand name Sacred Blend. I no longer produce Sacred Blend products, but I have kept the Good Medicine brand for other items. Some of my clothing products are labeled with the Good Medicine brand.
Ki’su’k Awumu is more than just a brand or a set of products. It is a reminder that the essence of good medicine is doing and being good. This is a powerful yet simple message that is long overdue in Native American communities and the world as a whole.
Our products are designed to provide comfort to the customer and support to our people. Your purchases help to preserve our indigenous people’s unique and beautiful heritage.

Behind the product: water people tours

We are a family of Montana Kootenai chief descendants and Salish Pend d’Oreille who are passionate about preserving our history. We offer group tours that tell the story of our people before the reservation was created.
Our tours offer fascinating historical information and stories from the past. We share stories that are relevant to Camp Kapapa, the surrounding places in and around the Flathead Valley, and the many activities available in these areas.
We believe it is essential to share our history with the world so that future generations can understand our people and what life was like in the 19th century and prior. We hope you will join us on one of our tours and experience the rich history of Montana and what life was like for the indigenous people firsthand.
Sincerely,
Water People Tours Team
BEHIND THE PRODUCT: LaShaye Lightning Designs
I’m so excited to share my daughter LaShaye’s story with you all. LaShaye is a 12-year-old artist who has a natural talent for creating beautiful and unique designs. She recently painted a picture of Camp Kapapa, Flathead Lake and the Mission Mountains at night, and I was so inspired by her creativity and resilience that I decided to collaborate with her to enhance her painting. I added a swirl effect to the night sky, and we created a t-shirt and sweatshirt design that is now available for sale online.
LaShaye Lightning Designs is a celebration of LaShaye’s talent and her ability to overcome challenges. She has faced bullying in the past, but she has never given up on her dreams. She is a role model for all of us, and I am so proud of her.
I encourage all parents to talk to their children about the importance of following their dreams, even when things are tough. We should also teach our children to be kind and supportive of others, regardless of their differences.
If you are interested in purchasing a LaShaye Lightning Designs t-shirt or sweatshirt, please visit our website at campkapapa.shop. Thank you for your support!
LaShaye’s Mom
P.S. LaShaye says “hi!” and she wants to thank everyone for their support. She is so excited to share her art with the world!
